About PoliGov
An independent, nonpartisan guide to American elections and government.
PoliGov puts U.S. elections and the people who hold office on one interactive map. It is built for anyone who wants to understand how elections are won, who represents them, and what the polls and forecasts say about the next one.

Where the data comes from
PoliGov uses public sources: official government rosters (Senate.gov, the Office of the Clerk of the House, the Supreme Court, the National Governors Association), certified and archived election results (National Archives, the MIT Election Data and Science Lab, the Federal Election Commission and others), U.S. Census map boundaries, and published polling. The full list, and how the forecast works, is in Sources & Methodology in the menu on the main page.
Independence
PoliGov is independent and nonpartisan. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or paid by any government agency, political party, candidate or campaign. Forecasts are statistical estimates, not predictions of certainty and not endorsements.
